Installation & Usage

How is a Mobi-Mat® installed and secured?

Installation is fast and simple: just roll it out and secure it using spikes or staples through the grommets. For underwater, hard surface, or wood deck installations, please contact us for suitable anchoring kits.

What is the maximum slope for installation?

We recommend installation on slopes up to 8–10% for safe use. Mobi-Mat® has been tested on slopes up to 23%. For steeper inclines, switchback layouts are recommended.

Can I cut or modify a Mobi-Mat®?

Yes. Mats can be cut to create angles or fit specific site needs. You'll need specialized tools (e.g., hole cutters, eyelets, rivet tools). Please contact us for detailed instructions.

Maintenance & Durability

How do I remove a Mobi-Mat®?

Mats can be rolled up manually or using a Mobi-Roller. Use a Mobi-Tool to remove spikes or staples. Rinse mats with fresh water before storage and keep them rolled up horizontally in a dry place.

How does the Mobi-Roller® work?

One end of the mat is attached to the axle, and pulling or pushing the Mobi-roller allows you to wind or unwind the mat smoothly and evenly.

Can one person use it alone?

No. One Mobi-Roller® can be used across multiple mats—up to 165 feet of our AFX RecPath range. The central axle is detachable, allowing mats to be rolled up and safely stored on the axle itself. The Mobi-Roller® is a reusable, durable tool designed to streamline the installation, removal, and seasonal storage of multiple Mobi-Mat® units across different sites.

Can I drive a vehicle on it?

Yes, Mobi-Mat® AFX models support light vehicle traffic, including ATVs, UTVs, and small trucks for loading/unloading. Always assess your slope and surface before vehicle use.

What surfaces can the ramp be used on?

The mat performs well on soft or unstable ground—including sand, gravel, or mud. It helps prevent rutting and shoreline damage at informal or unpaved launch sites.

What sizes are available for boat ramp use?

Most boat ramp applications use the AFX RecPath 3.5ft, 6.5ft, or 10ft wide mats, in lengths ranging from 16.5ft to 50+ ft, depending on the grade and waterline. Custom lengths are available.

Can it be submerged in water?

Yes. Mobi-Mat® is designed to be partially or fully submerged in freshwater or saltwater. The non-slip surface remains effective underwater and is UV-, mold-, and rot-resistant. You may consider the underwater anchoring kit for the submerged part of the Boat Ramp. Please contact us for more information.

Is it easy to install and remove?

Very. The mat can be rolled out manually or with a Mobi-Roller®. It is secured with spikes or anchors at the top and bottom ends. Seasonal removal is quick—simply roll it up, rinse, and store.
